USB not detected on Mac OS x

i have installed Mac OS x on vmware. when i put my usb drive, it is detected on the host OS not on Mac OS x which is runing on vmware. if any body know abt the problem kindly help me...

    Have you installed vm tools in windoiws within wmware?
