iOS 4 Multitasking UI question

OK, I loaded up iOS 4 on my iPhone 3GS and started playing with the multi-tasking user interface.

I went into the Settings app. Now, when I double click the Home button to get the "task switcher" list the Setting icon is there, and so is the icon for every app that I visited since I installed iOS 4. I can now scroll through page after page of "running" apps, four at a time, in the the "task switcher" at the bottom of the screen?

I discovered I can press and hold a "task switcher" icon and it will cause the task icons to "jiggle" with a minus sign. Pressing the minus sign removes (and presumably stops execution of) the app from the "task switcher" list.

Is there another way to "quit" an app without going to the "task switcher" or re-booting?
