Robert Blake now in the joint...

Anyone have any thoughts/opinions/commentary/rant on this?

Another L.A.-based, celebrity-involved brutal murder.

One big difference.

I'm predicting he gets the chair.

Too bad he didn't play football and is...well, you know. He might have a fighting chance. You know: make it about LAPD racism, corruption, who might've uttered "nigger" once, skin color, etc. Basically about everything except what it's SUPPOSED to be about.

Kinda like that LAST big celebrity murder trial a few years ago.

Ahem...

Nah, Baretta is gonna fry!

Oh yeah, one more thing: pay close attention to how many fellow caucasions (or Italians) rally around and support him...JUST because of his whiteness.

As a white guy, it doesn't bother me in the least to see another white guy carted off to jail...especially if he did something truly bad...LIKE SHOOT HIS WIFE IN THE HEAD OR CUT HIS EX'S THROAT SO DEEPLY THAT SHE'S BASICALLY DECAPITATED.

You probably won't see a roomful of idiot "Baretta" and "Our Gang" fans cheering his acquittal months from now.

SOME people's loyalties and support go deeper than skin color. And unfortunately, as recent history has shown, some people's don't.

If Blake DID do this, or had an active role in the planning/soliciting of it (and I truly believe he did), then I hope the mother****er fries.

Or at least sits behind bars for the rest of his life.

Blake should get the apropriate sentence regardless of his "fame" if you want to call it that. And for your some what prejudicial overtones on the O.J Simpson case, I will debate you anytime on his being guilty BASED ON THE CASE EVIDENCE as shown on the trials on tv. But this would have to be on another forum I suppose..(new topic)

Prejudicial overtones? Give it a rest.

Cochran and the legal defense's tactics, along with many black citizens (L.A. and otherwise) showed more "overtones" and "us vs. them" mentality than ANYTHING I posted above.

    Whatever.

As soon as the Simpson trial became about "a black man getting a fair trial" and less about a has-been, washed-up, insanely jealous ex-footballer hacking his ex's head off, it all went down from there.

I don't care to debate you on anything.

As for "prejudicial overtones", bug off. You don't know me.

What did I say above that WASN'T true or DID happen?

I have a problem believing ANYTHING that comes from the media. They're not intrested in showing the comments of sane rational individuals. They're looking for a powerder keg to blow up for their rating. OJ Simpson, Menendez, Kennedy and other high profile cases were nothing special..the most embarrassing part was how the media twists and distorts the truth. There's a reason why I don't watch much tv and the news is a large part.

Damn, that guy is in my favorite movie of all time, Lost Highway.

Maybe it'll make my DVD a collector's item.

Seriously though, too bad for Blake that he killed his wife after OJ killed his... you just know they're not going to let another star off.

    <waiting for Robertp>

Lost Highway? Whatever. Watch "In Cold Blood".

You have to take into consideration that he is a B-movie actor. That doesn't get you a lot of friends or respect in Hollywood.

Oh, and yes... O.J. was also a B-movie actor (if an actor at all) too. But he had a long and successful football career too. And yeah, he is black. But a black man who lived literally in a white world.

Sadly, I think Baretta is going to the chair. But I wouldn't be surprised if he gets life. What better way for him to live the rest of his life? I can see them now...the annual ET prison interview with Robert Blake... ...The True Hollywood Story: Robert Blake...

    He's guiltier that OJ!!!!!

at least OJ had some kind of alaby. Blake was "having a drink at the bar" even though he had gone back for his jacket or wallet or something

I.E. getting his gun and shooting his wife

Anyone notice that this is now a *top story* (on CNN news for example), even getting "breaking news" status every time there's a development. Suddenly all the real news-worthy items are being shelved or compromised because some (has-been) celebrity is in trouble. The media seldom gets a balance on stories; it's either overkill or ignore.

Very nice, something to distract us from the real news for the next year or so.

As terrible as this sounds, it's a welcome break from "another suicide bomber has..."

Actually, I think I might just turn off the TV for a week. Won't miss much anyhow.

He was going back to get the gun that he had left in the restaurant (!?!) and came back to find his wife dead.

I am pretty sure that he did it, as I was with O.J.. The only difference I can see is that the people in the Simpson case were prettier and lived in a better part of town.
