iP4 Multitasking, Background Services, etc Effect on Battery
My casual day to day observation of my battery life with my iP4 is that it is not that great. Maybe even the same or worse than my 3G. I keep my Wi-Fi on, Bluetooth on but not connected except maybe 30 minutes a day in the car, Notifications off, Push MobileMe and Gmail and I have a few apps' Locations Services on; Camera, Google Maps, UrbanSpoon. Other than Location Services I don't think any settings are different than on my 3G. I try to keep apps in the Multitasking tray at a minimum. I keep getting a battery percentage drop of 10-15% overnight and I've seen a 10% drop in the last two hours and I've hardly touched the phone except to check the battery %.
Maybe it's that with the iP4 I can see the percentage and it's easier for me to quantify battery usage, but overall I'm not impressed with the battery. Can anyone offer any insight into what the problem might be? Obviously I can shut down all kinds of functions and use it as a paperweight but that's not what I'm aiming for here. Does having Locations Services On for apps cause a drain even while the app is not running. If it's in the multitasking tray does that make a difference? I can't imagine that having the Camera location service On would do anything to the battery unless I'm actually using the camera. Google Maps, however, I'm not so sure. Thoughts?
Thanks.
