Using old G5 iMac as second monitor?

I'm about to get a new quad core 27" i5 iMac. I understand that the new 27" iMacs can both be used AS monitors from another computer as well as port their screens to another monitor.

The new 21.5" iMacs apparrently can't be used as a monitor. So that's one of the reasons I went with the 27" besides the screen real-estate and faster processor. For the longevity and future proofing of being able to use it as an external monitor.

Anyway....it will be replacing an old g5 iMac. The last g5 iMac apple made 5 years ago.

My QUESTION is.....can I hook my g5 iMac up to my new iMac as a second monitor? Is it possible? Spanning I mean? And if so, how would I connect the two?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

Much appreciated.
