At least they kept a low end CD-W option as opposed to all Superdrives.
I'd say the 933 or the low end dual is the best "deal". Interesting... Apple usually tries to hit a 2499-2599 price point.
It will be interesting to see if :
A) these sell well.
Apple actually puts them on the home page. (it still has the new iMac.)
MSKR
Man this is so cool. I am a bit perplexed that the low-end model has no Superdrive, but that's okay.
EDIT: The 933MHz model can be had for $2,067.00 with the education discount and using a Radeon card instead of the Dual display Nvidia card.

Ah well, I guess I'll keep my order for the iMac.
700 Mhz imac with 15 inch LCD, 128 MB of RAM, 40 GB drive, 10/100 Ethernet - $1300
800 MHz PM G4, no LCD, no superdrive, 256 MB of RAM, 40 gig drive, ATI radeon 7500, Gb ethernet -$1600
so for an extra $300, you loose an 15 inch LCD, and gain 100 MHz, extra 128 MB of RAM, an ATI radeon 7500 over the Geforce2 MX, and Gb ethernet over 10/100.
don't know bout you guys, but it seems like the 100 MHz, upped gfx card, extra 128 MB of ram, and upped ethernet don't outway (or come too short of) the 15 inch LCD. so why is the PM G4 an extra $300? this can't remain like this for long...
I know this may not sound like a lot, but some people need PCI slots.
The dual 1GHz is on OK deal and the 933 is a tad pricey but I can see the logic. But the 800 is too expensive for that considering the iMac has specs that beat it (Superdrive and LCD). The maximum I would pay for that machine would be $1399. At that price I would consider replacing my 466.

The PM will kill the iMac in any speed tests. It has a faster drive, and faster system bus.
Since the possibility of a Geforce4 card coming out in retail for the Mac is equal to nil, pro users are stuck with the low-end of Nvidia.
I wonder how fast the geforce4 MX is, is it faster than a geforce3 or a radeon 8500? Usually, Nvidia's low end for their new generation performs similarly to their previous high-end.
I won't say I told you so but I was pretty close.
I was off with the dual 1GHz vs. a dual 933, but my prices were pretty much bang on.
