Just saw there's now an update to iWork (update 4, ver. 9.0.4) which addresses issues in Keynote, Pages and Numbers and adds export compatibility to Pages for ePub (for use with iBooks). Nice.

That's interesting, but I can't get too excited about ePub format exporting. From what little experience I have with this, it totally slaughters anything but the most basic document formatting.

I think that's an actual goal of the format as it has to make the text ready for reader screen zooming on-the-fly re-formatting, rather than a fixed artistic layout. it's much more like dynamic HTML layout than traditional text layout.
It's just a case of pick the right tool for the job's desired endstate.

I know. I've been reading ePub books, and it's fine for all text, but awful for anything involving graphics. I can't even figure out how to make a caption stay in place. I suppose when I write my Great American Novel, I will have some use for the ePub format. Otherwise, fagedaboutdit.
