I'm not buying anything from iTunes until it changes. Or how can you overwrite it? The get info box is locked.

I love that this guy registered just to post this topic. Not to pick on you, the icon is a crime upon humanity. But registering just for that? lol

It's not that small a deal for a company that prides itself on design. And if something this bad could get through the system, what other stuff is going to get through? Suggests Apple is thinly stretched.

Quit whining. It's as though you're forced to look at it, let alone actually KEEP it.

Here's what I've been using since at least iTunes 8. To get it to change across all instances of iTunes appearing, you have to change the icon for iTunesHelper, too.

Okay... uh, how do I attach files?

Seriously? lol. I was joking about it being a crime against humanity. We should all be self-aware enough to realize that our own preference for style and fashion is just that, our own preference.

You're basically getting worked up that a pair of shoes came with the wrong color of shoelaces. Change the laces if it really matters that much. Personal preferences and good-natured mocking, that's perfectly sane. Boycotting and developing a theory about the downfall of a multi-thousand person organization? That is almost an indication of loosing one's grip on reality.

On the other hand, it can be entertaining for us bystanders... carry on.

Now for a bit of rational thought about the new icon...

Note how it no longer depicts an optical disc. I hadn't given the inclusion of a CD much thought until now. Perhaps the eighth notes will get replaced eventually too. But to read that much literal meaning into the icon, might mean that the name of the app should change as well. That would certainly be more difficult from a branding perspective.

Bad design is bad design. After a certain point it's not about preference. Anyhow, on a quick look at the web it seems many others think the same.

A quick look on the web also reveals that every iTunes icon change has always produced complaints. Simply changing the color of the musical note has lead to claims that the sky is falling.

In other news: Blue is blue and red is red. This proves nothing about the color of my car.
