I'd heard of that being a terrorist threat somewhere.

I wonder if it was just a gas line accident. This happened in the middle of the day, when few people would be home. Even the most dim witted terrorist would attempt at a time when more people would be home. But never underestimate the stupid.

Stuff blows up all the time here in Chicago all on it's own.

To be fair, this is how the Chechen rebels tried to force their issue with the Russian government. They set off bombs in a series of apartment buildings, so it's not without precedence. Nothing is too strange or unlikely anymore.

Many more buildings blow up due to gas leaks rather than terrorist. I'm telling you it does happen all the time here in Chicago. Maybe 2 ... 3 times a year.

Happened in Massachusetts when I was growing up, too, although more frequently in the fall, and it was usually because of old oil-burning furnaces starting up for the first time in months.

Still, no harm in checking. As long as caution remains caution, rather than degenerating into hysteria, it's an appropriate reaction in this day and age. But then, I was rather impressed with the reaction to 9/11. We're prone to not giving ourselves enough credit (as hard as it might be for those outside the US to believe ).

It was a gas leak according to the preliminary investigation.

    If that's the case, then the incident that happened in 11th September 2001 to the World Trade Center should have happened around 11:00 A.M. ~ 12:00 A.M., NOT 8:45 A.M. ~ 9:03 A.M. (crash) / 10:05 A.M. ~ 10:29 A.M. (collapse).

Note: U.S. office hours usually started around from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. . And the obervation deck at Tower 2 only opened around from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. in summer.

Who ever planned the incident that happened in 11th September 2001 is very clever at executing the plan.

So... The target in 11th September 2001 is probably intended to be panic and mass hysteria, NOT to kill a lot of lives (at least the lives of VIPs) nor cause a lot of damage (in the term of property, financial, political, etc).

Usually? So what are the office hours at many of the businesses at the WTC? The time of day they had hit if everything had gone according to plan they would have killed over 10,000 people.

They were definately well executed plans. However your next part does not follow the reality. Sure they intended to cause panic and mayhem in the US (which succeeded for a while), but they also intended for the destruction to be much worse. From what I have seen they intended for the towers to be knocked over sideways by the impact of the planes which would have killed all inside the towers instantly (many more thousands of people), and wiped out the financial district of NYC (Wall street, etc, meaning even more thousands of people.)

Also remember that there was every indication that they planned to take out the White House and the Capitol. Their intent was to kill and destroy. They wanted to bring the US to it's knees. Trying to argue for anything less is to mitigate the actions of the terrorist and condone what they did and wanted to do.
