I understand that with Airplay in iOS4.2 we should be able to stream from iPads and iPhones. However, is that only iTunes content or, if we're using BBC iPlayer app or 4OD online, can we stream that to the AppleTV as well?

My understanding is that other apps will need to enable the function using the new APIs, but it's not a default. So, if BBC chooses to implement the AirPlay feature in an an updated iPlayer app, then you will.
