Grasping for ideas on getting work. . . any ideas?

I'm a college student without a job. I wanted to be in DC for one more year before taking a long-distance intership out west. I have a LOT of varied skills, though at this point I'll do anything, since nobody seems to want to hire someone just for the summer.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'll take a painful job that pays well over an easy job that doesn't.

Thanks.

From seeing your website through another thread, you might try to pimp out your Form Z skills to architects, developers and engineers. A sort of freelance operation.

Yeah, except that isn't going to be scoring any points in the interest of networking

Nobody is hiring right now. Hell, I have an Avid sitting here that I can't even rent out on a regular basis. I'm about to send it down to Atlanta to my father's business to try and get it some use.

Well, I managed to pull a few strings and I'll have a couple part time jobs fired up for a least a little bit.

I'm also on a graphics consulting group's HR list -- have been for a while -- and they do a lot of temp work so it's not an issue. It's just that nothing has come up lately. Of course, one week of graphics consulting/temp, on a wage metric, is like 4 weeks on intern work! Hopefully I'll get a call sometime this summer.

    In the meantime I'll try to beef up my portfolio. . . . must obtain 3D Universe 4. . . <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Thanks anyway, and good luck to all of us!
