From today's editiion of UK newspaper The Independent:

[quote]You may recall the controversy, before the launch last year of Office XP, about its "smart tags", which Microsoft fondly imagined would take over the world. The idea was that as you scrubbed your mouse over words or phrases on web pages or documents, XP would chunter away in the background and and suggest pages or places on the web with information relevant to what you were reading about. Of course, that's "relevant" as in "potentially earning money for Microsoft". The outcry meant smart tags are off by default. But the other day, one blogger (we lost the URL) turned them on and clicked on the phrase "information superhighway" in Word XP. Which promptly smart-tagged it ? and offered to find web pages with driving directions to get there. We reckon the world's safe ? for now. <hr></blockquote> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
