help with customization

I am sure this has been asked before, and if it has, I apologize.
Is there a way to customize your iphone more? I realize you can assign ring tones, but without jailbreaking my iphone 4, I cannot figure out how to change other tones such as mail, text, etc...
I would figure that a phone that touts itself as a lifestyle phone would be able to through an app or something.
Again, I am looking for an app or something that allows me to customize more of the tones and if possible even some of the appearance of the iphone.
Any help would be appreciated.
