So you wanna buy Ted Williams' DNA? hahaha...

It seems baseball great Ted Williams' daughter and step son are fighting over the body!

She claims that her step brother has had Williams' body cryogenically frozen so that he can sell his DNA later on. According to her, it's freakish, there's a metal tube on his skull, and his body is so cold that just touching it would cause the skull to crack! HAHAHA...

He claims the body has been frozen in compliance with the wishes of the deceased.

I can see the US military being interested in good old Teddy's DNA, it seems he was a hell of a soldier (reflexes and vision make good hitters too)

Anyway, I find this to be an appropriately farcical turn to the life of any celebrity. Just thought I'd pass on the goodies.

Meh. People fuss too much over corpses. Teddy isn't using his body anymore so what's wrong with making a quick buck?

Here in New England, we hate John Henry Williams. You know the guys at card shows who sell fake autographs for obscene amounts of money, and the real ones for even more? This is one of those guys.

About 3 weeks ago, the guy (in his mid 30s), decided he wanted to play minor league baseball. He used his father's influence to join a farm team in the Red Sox organization. His quote was, "Up or out. I'm not planning on staying in the minors for very long." He actually thought he could play for the Red Sox.

Then, after Ted Williams is dead, the nurses, his friends, and the majority of his family report that his final wish was for his ashes to be spread over the Florida Keys. But what does John Henry Williams claim? That he said that, but he REALLY meant that he wanted to be cryogenically frozen.

In case people don't know, cryogencis involves DECAPITATION. The claim/hope of cryogenics is that in 25-50 years, medical doctors will have the technology and drugs to bring the deceased back to life (by this, I mean more than they arleady can now). So they preserve the dead body, hoping that one day, they can restore it.

In Boston, it has leaked out that John Henry Williams just wants to sell the DNA, etc. of his father later on. Unbelievably poor judgement.

    It's too bad they didn't follow his last wishes. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Do last wishes really matter? It's not like Teddy is going to know the difference.

So you're saying that it would be all right with you, when you die, for your family to cook and eat you? You wouldn't know the difference, so why would it matter?

I wouldn't exist so I couldn't care. Hey, at least they get to enjoy eating me instead of a bunch of worms.

Hey, don't count me in on this. I'm horrified that they would decapitate him, even after he was dead.

Why? Once you are dead what does it matter what happens to your corpse? You are DEAD. You DO NOT NEED IT. You WILL NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO IT.

You're right, but it's still disgusting. Also, if you wanted something to be done with your body after your dead I think your family should respect your wishes.

Screw my wishes. I'm dead. My wishes don't matter anymore because I'm not there to see them through.

Of course I'm all for lying to the dying and telling them that we will respect their wishes to make them happy. Of course when they die I'll do what's profitable and convenient.

It's seems that you have very little respect for the deads, understand for their memory.

Respect has nothing to do with a corpse.

I don't remember the dead based on what happens to their corpse. I remember the dead based on their actions they performed when they were living. Screw corpses--literally--if you're into that sort of thing.

Dumbasses, I'm not talking about the whole "dead, so you won't know..." stuff.

I'm talking about "eating the body" talk from earlier. That IS disgusting and tacky.

    Get a clue and think.

Why wouldn't you want your loved ones to eat your corpse? It would be a great honor. They would celebrate your life with a feast of you.

would it really be that hard to bring a dead person back to life? isn't it just a matter of some functioning organs and some blood flow? i'm going to go do some net research on this..
