Sounds like Iverson's in a LOT of trouble!

That list of charges sounds pretty intense.

This is my favorite part of the article:

    [quote]

Iverson, whose dazzling play and bad-boy image have made him enormously popular with young people, has had other brushes with the law.

As a teen-ager, he was arrested in a Hampton, Va., bowling alley brawl in 1993 and spent four months in prison before then-Gov. Douglas Wilder granted clemency. The conviction was overturned on appeal in 1995.

Forget the fact that the conviction was overturned. Nah, it's not interesting if they leave it out. So the guy is accused, convicted and then found innocent, but it's still something he has to answer for. And, look out parents, kids love Iverson because of his "bad boy" image. Give me a break. The guy doesn't conform to white America's view of a good guy (he's no pretty boy, a la Christian Laettner), so he's strung up everytime he screws up. I'm not saying he didn't screw up, just that there's no need to bring up things that he was innocent of just because he was accused. What else has he done wrong? He has a lot of tattoos and raps about white people sucking. No crime there. Stupidity, arguably. But last time I checked it wasn't a crime to be stupid. (Otherwise GW would be in jail for a long time....)

True or False: Allen Iverson wears that stupid-ass sock on his arm because underneath there is a tatoo that reads: Cop Killer?

My understanding is "true", for that alone he deserves all the verbal abuse he can get. Oh, but I'm real sure he makes Momma proud because he gives her all kinds of extravagent gifts. BFD. You want people to treat you like a man instead of a punk, Allen? Act like a man.

Terroristic threats? What the hell does that mean?

I guess he threatened to kill them or destroy them or their property? I don't know. I've never heard that term used in this sort of situation either.

    Sounds bad, whatever it means.

Sounds like some garbage built after 9/11.

    Iverson is a terrorist!

The terrorist part of the language in the charge is really old. You can find strange stuff like that in any state's lawbooks.

As far as Iverson goes, if you look like a thug, rap like a gansta, and hang out with ex-cons, then pull a gun on someone, you are what you are.

And this is from someone who loves to watch him play. Most heart in the league, IMO.

I'm pretty sure they charged him will so many crimes, because he didn't shoot all of them in the apartment.

For those challenged in Humor.....it's a joke

It's too bad, cause I've followed Iverson from his Georgetown days. I hope it all get's worked out...maybe a slap on the wrist and some cookies?

[quote]Terroristic threats? With accompanying commentary by Bill Walton. Terroristic Threats.

I could have seen this coming. Wasn't it Keenan Ivory Wayans that described him as a "little thug" with "corn rows" and everything.

I wondered what the scars on his face were from too...like the one right over his brow.

    From the AP

[quote]In 1993, Iverson was arrested in a Hampton, Va., bowling alley brawl and spent four months in prison before then-Gov. Douglas Wilder granted clemency. The conviction was overturned on appeal in 1995.

In 1997, Iverson pleaded no contest to a gun charge after police near Richmond, Va., stopped a car in which he was a passenger and found a gun belonging to Iverson and two marijuana cigarettes. A marijuana-possession charge was dropped.

Iverson completed 100 hours of community service, two years of drug testing and three years' probation, after which his record was expunged.

Iverson seems a bit slick to me when it comes to evading bigger run-ins with the law. He's a celebrity though. He'll easily get out of this.

The running joke at work (I'm in Philly) is to walk into a room with your finger cocked like a gun and say "Where my wife at!?"

Lots of people here think its a big joke.

Threatening someone with that stuff gets you the death penalty here in Texas.

Golden State Warriors... Bill Walton... the horror... the horror!

Seems like he pulled a "Frank Sinatra". Ol' Blue Eyes pulled a stunt like this in the 40's or 50's. Jealous that one of his gals might be sleeping with another man, he broke into an apartment...(can't find a damn link about it anywhere) with supposedly a gun. Problem was that they broke into the wrong apartment. The woman tenent called the police and Frankie had to go to trial...of course he walked out scott free.

    That's what'll probably happen here...

By the way, AI wears that "sock" for a persistent elbow injury. Honestly...

If you say so. But tell me how something that flimsy is going to support your elbow joint in a game of basketball when you're getting hammered on through the lane, etc? My recollection is that people who have interviewed him (with the sock off) have actually seen it and commented on it in various sports shows, rather than it being urban legend. But I could be wrong. Anyone got a poster or something that shows that arm with the sock off?

    Either way he's a punk.

Wow...I heard he wears it in remembrance of his friend who was murdered in Virginia. Sheesh...somebody's gotta clear this up

Has a reporter ever simply asked him POINT BLANK what it's about? Oh wait, I guess that might be "not showing me no respect".

"Hey, Bo Derek: what's with the sock?".

    See, it's really simple.

Search Google dammit! He does not have a tattoo with "Cop Killer" on his arm...it's because of an <a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Allen+Iverson+Elbow+injury"; target="_blank">elbow injury!

I'm not trying to defend him or his actions. He is a punk, but a damn passionate basketball player.

Why don't you point to a specific article. You think I'm going to go through all those links? I really don't care that much.

Me neither. I just recommended the others to search for "truth". Willowboy, you're a Philly resident...ever heard of a "cop killer tattoo conspiracy"? Everyone I asked here at work looked at me like I was an idiot.

As for all the others here pondering this B.S....
