Hi Guys

I am experiencing a Kernel Panic on my MacBook with 10.6.3 installed after using Genius Drive to defragment the HD. From that point on there is no way to have this machine boot with all the known methods that I could find. have tried to save my data by having the MB HD boot into Ubuntu 10.4 but folders are locked and impossible to open, copy or move.

Have tried pretty much all the alternate boot key combinations and option but to no avail.

Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm only GUESSING based on what you've said... but...

Sounds like GD somehow corrupted a necessary file. However, not booting is different from a Kernel Panic.

Either way, boot from the OSX DVD and re-install OSX.

What possessed you to think you needed to defragment the HDD ?

Cut and paste the log where?

It's obviously a Silverlight problem, then. It's worthless tech, anyway. Does Netflix force you to use Silverlight? Update your browser as far as it can go, get Click2Flash and the Flash 10.2 beta, and download the newest version of Silverlight and see what happens.

Hello, I visited this thread earlier today when I was having this problem. I currently have a Macbook Pro, which was frequently getting Kernal Panics whenever I would watch a Movie on Netflix, and it started to get irritating. After doing hours of research and trouble shooting the problem, I came to this solution:

First question, Do you use VirtualBox or any VM software? [U]IF[U] you have VirtualBox that could be your problem, which it was mine. If you visit their website it indicates that this is a external pack which is venerable to kernel attacks. I uninstalled VirtualBox, by downloading the installer of the application just like when you first installed it, and selected the uninstall option. DO NOT just drag and drop to the trash.

After you remove VirtualBox reboot your computer, and it should be good.

Also, if this doesn't work, try going to Disk Utility and fixing Disk permissions.
