Is it me or are those photos a little graphic to show without a little bit of a warning? I'm talking about the photo slideshow.

Heh, there's an air show in the bay area today. In fact, I just heard a jet put on its afterburners or something...could have been a sonic boom.

I'm probably 20 miles from the airfield they're using too.

Good thing I didn't buy any of those Ukrainian fighter jets back when I had the chance. . . . (of course, I didn't quite have the money, but it's a fun story nonetheless).

As for airshows, the only calamities I've ever heard of, recently, at airshows have all involved ex-soviet jets. There's a lesson in this.

Saw the footage on the news, looked rather graphic...

Reminded me of the time that there were those two helicopters going side by side, then got too close and their roters hit.

When I saw the photo of the body parts and the torso-less legs in the foreground, the first thing that popped into my head was, "Hey man, your shoelaces are untied."

    Does that make me evil?

The main reason why it happened, apart from the planes technical failure (engine cut out?) is that the show was in the Ukraine, where airshow safety standards are not as strict as western Europe (and probably USA), where the planes are not allowed to fly over or too near the crowd. In eastern europe, they do not have these rules, so the plane can basically fly where it wants to, ie, low flying stunt over the crowd line.
