Buying a Mac from UK to USA

Hi, Basically I need to order a macbook to a friend in the USA, Is it possible to do this through the American apple website? Just i went to order and put in my billing address which is obviously from the UK and it wouldn't accept the phone number.

    Put your friends phone number in from the USA and than try it.
