Read paragraph six. Ha!

You know, gang...there's no shortage of silliness in the world. The only resource we have that will never be depleted.

It was at LAX, so I guess they're EXTRA careful after that July 4th shooting incident. But STILL...

I was under the impression that "replica" gun meant something LIFE-SIZED TO A HUMAN that might legitimately be mistaken for a real gun (some of those BB and pellet guns out there look exactly like real guns).

But a 2" PLASTIC doll's gun?

HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?

[quote]A spokesman for Los Angeles International Airport said: "We have instructions to confiscate anything that looks like a weapon or a replica.

"If GI Joe was carrying a replica then it had to be taken from him."

Face it, GI Joe has had it too good for too long. It's time someone put the little soldier in his place. heh heh

Seriously though, this is just completely bizzare. I guess they're following the rules to the letter... but come on. If safety is what they're going for, then they shouldn't let me on a plane with my large hands. I mean, I could kill someone with these things. WAY easier that I could with a freakin' 2 inch plastic gun, replica or not.

    LOL!

This isn't the first incident. I've heard a couple of others recently. The ones that come to mind are the woman with the gun-shaped earrings that had to be removed, and the man with his silver coated bullet keychain.

And don't forget the 80-year-old arrested for asking if security expected to find a rifle in his wallet that they were searhing.

Glad to know that we've federalized the security.

you know, not sure if any of you were in the army or have family that were, but if a soldier is saying that a two inch gun looks lifelike, he's going to get a bit of flak from his friends.....

Did it have the special Kung-fu grip? That could be the reason they confiscated it.

I heard this on Neil Bortz Tuesday. What a bunch of crap.

He also mentioned that a Medal of Honor winner had (or almost had) his medal confiscated at the airport because the pinhead dropouts at security thought it looked like a "throwing star." But I didn't hear all of that report.

Please, PLEASE, please write and tell the airlines how disgusted you are with this kind of CRAP. Don't tell Congress -- they don't care. Boycott flying if you want to, but make sure that you TELL SOMEONE at the airlines why you're doing it.

If John Holmes were alive today they'd probably confiscate his 14 1/2 dong...

I think it's the fact that these security guards are under-trained. Before they would just slack off, but now that won't work anymore. So they are going after anything that remotely could be something because they don't want to be the one that let's another Sept. 11th happen. They are afraid to be crucified by the media. But it looks like the media wants to crucify them anyways. You can't win for losing.

That's exactly what I thought when I first read it, Eugene. I actually looked the website over really well, making sure I WASN'T reading some parody/satire site!

It's funny when real life is sillier than The Onion.

I agree with you. The problem is that they can't possibly stop everything. The Sept. 11 hyjackers should never have been able to take over four airplanes with little boxcutter blades. Security is needed on the aircrafts right now.

GI Joe is an indited war criminal. He claims he was "just following orders" but we know the truth. People like him are the real terrorist in the world. He's the exact type of person we need to keep out of our airports.

OK, so a mom and her daughter were in a local toy store, looking for a Barbie doll. After finding one she likes, the daughter heads right to the GI Joe toys and picks up the latest dessert-cammo-super-secret-ellite-fighting-ranger figure.

"Mommy, I want this one too," she says.

"Are you sure sweetie?" asks the mom. "Barbie comes with Ken."

"No," says the daughter, "Barbie comes with GI Joe. She only FAKES it with Ken."

No, it isn't that. They aren't allowed to EXERCISE JUDGEMENT, because that would require them to be responsible for their actions. They aren't compensated well enough for that, and they're Federal employees now anyway, so responsibility isn't part of the job. As for the media crucifying them -- right, that's going to happen.
