Baseball Strike? Anybody care?
Baseball is so messed up that I really could care less at this point. I am sad that I feel that way because I used to love baseball. The truth is, that with baseball's current salary structure no amount of revenue can ever be enough for most teams to prosper. Here in Houston, we built a new ballpark to "save the Astros", but spending has already exceeded the benefits of the new park.

Oh, great timing Ebby... This sucks. (Tries to kick own butt and falls)
Plus, I'll be playing baseball in a week. That's more than enough for me. Don't need to watch major league baseball when you can play the game yourself everyday
But it doesn't matter now since it looks inveitable that the strike is going to happen.
Notice that the day before Bud Selig gets involved, things are looking 'good', but then he jumps into the ring and nothing gets done.
Goodbye baseball. I fear the damage done to the game this time may be too much.
If you notice (via polls, "man on the street" interviews, call-ins to sports shows, etc.), about 97% of the people I'm hearing are in agreement with us here.
These guys AREN'T to be pitied or fawned over. It's hard for people making regular, lower-end salaries to cough up my sympathy or understanding for these hammerheads.
People want to honestly argue with me and yap about "but the owners..." or "yeah, but the players should...". SHUT UP!
Hey, guess what? Both sides are wrong. Both sides are idiots.
I pray to God that come next spring, opening day, not ONE ballpark is filled with more than 200 people (and that's counting the damn vendors, security and parking lot attendants).
Screw them. Bon voyage. Don't let the door hit ya, etc.
Morons. Great going, guys.
I'm hoping everyone doesn't puss out and run back all breathless and relieved next season. Hold tough. Don't give them the pleasure.
Honest to God, if WE (the fans and viewers) decided we're truly had enough, we could bring the whole thing to their knees.
We really could.
Think about it: how far could they honestly get next season if people a) didn't go to the stadiums b) didn't watch on TV c) didn't buy the souvenirs
I'd love for spring training camp to open and have these idiots out there playing for absolutely NO ONE in the stands.
That would be beautiful.

But no worries, once they get a deal set my horrible Rangers will turn me off baseball again.
Oh well, NFL starts in a week.
No contraction until 2006.
Now we get to go through again in another few years. I can't believe anyone can still care. Or be genuinely "relieved".
I SO wanted there to be a strike...
Unfortunately, that's the road they're on now. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
*phew* back to normal.
When's the next football game?
<strong>STRIKE AVERTED!
