SOCOM: Navy Seals
I just picked up SOCOM today and felt a need to share how cool this game is.
If you guys have a PS2, this game might be for you.
The premise is simple: You are a member of an elite Navy Seals team and your objective is to hunt down and kill terrorists. (Sound fun?)
Here's where the game gets interesting. It has a headset that allows you to issue commands to your troops. It's really cool to figure out where a terrorist is and then have two of your guys flank him while you try an open assault with your other two soldiers.
This game also features multiplayer online. The Network Adapter for the PS2 came out yesterday and this is one of it's 'launch titles'. I played for about 2 hours after getting it playing the various game modes online. As the servers are new, it took a while to get into a game, but after you get in, the PS2 sets up a peer to peer network with the other players to keep it going, only hitting a server when a player leaves to let another one into the game.
Overall, the game is really fun. It's fairly strict play in the online games (when you die, you're dead until the game is over), but you can talk to your allies online using the headset and the controls are very good.
If you have a need to kill some terrorists, this game is for you.

I'm not really big into gaming, so I only skimmed your post once I realized what it was about. But, and this is spooky, When I read the last line, I was instantly transported back to Reading Rainbow, and you were sitting there in a little chair telling all the world about your favorite book. Only it was a game. Don't ask me why. Maybe I should go to bed.
That was kind of an effect I was going for.
