And Cartman-Yoda opens the clouds, looks down and says...

... I hate you Dave.

The world proves to me yet again that life seemingly must suck at all times. I was having a great day today, especially considering it was Friday the 13th. I had a short day at work and was on my way home around 2 o'clock and got back to my building around 230 only to see a cop parked outside w/ his lights flashing. i had to drive around for a bit to find a parking spot, and when i did, the cop was gone.

I thought nothing of it. Then i get into my apt, my one room mate is on his computer and i walk into my room and am crushed.

Some dumb assed bastard decided in broad daylight to walk right into my window and walk out our front door w/ 700$ worth of mine and my room mates shit. My other room mate was in my room talking with my schools housing director (we live in student housing) and hit me with the news. The bastards took the ps2, all the games, left the dvd's, my stereo/alarm clock, our vcr, and attempted to take my computer.

I would have been more upset insted of enraged with hatred when i found this out had this only been the first time this had happened. Three months ago, while i was asleep, most likely the same assholes walked into the living room window(the apt is ground level) and walked out w/ about 800$ worth of stuff that time.

The odd thing is, no one in student housing had been robbed before, let alone twice, and nobody elses apartments showed any signs of any attempt to break in. this all happened in broad daylight while my room mates were in class.

I can be thankful that they were stupid as hell though. i had a 400$ digital camera sitting in plain sight, they never even touched it. all 2500$ worth of my computer was still here, and all working.

not quite sure what im getting at or trying to say here. just thought id shed a little light onto the rest of the world about how my day went. looks like i get no open windows until im somewhere far above the ground floor :/

    Man, that sucks. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Yeah, there are lots of mean and desperate people out there.

What do you mean "attempted" to take the computer? Do you have a lock on it? If so, excellent thinking!

And what did you mean by "walk right into my window"? Was the window open or unlocked? Or did they break it to get in?

its one of those windows you crank open, it was open about 4-5 inches and they just yanked it the rest of the way. the window sil is at ground level, kind of a basement apt. thats why i said they walked in.

Sorry about the theft. Anyway you can get one of those expanding widow bars attached? I live on the first floor of my apartment building and have one on one widow. It's also screwed in. Never had any problems for three years and this is with the window open all day when I'm at work.

I have seen one theft where two perps pulled up in a van, got out, went nextdoor to me and grabbed a motorscooter. Just cut the lock, picked it up and threw it into the van and took off...never to be seen again.
