Your advice...?

Not to be a blatent plug or anything, but I recently launched a business venture based around the concept of an internet raffle. I just put the site out there and I'm developing a strategy as far how to promote and further refine and enhance the site. I've gotten some bites from the limited advertising I'm doing so far, but I'm trying to think of how to expand that and get it out there more.

There are a few raffle sites out there, like <a href="http://www.macraffle.com"; target="_blank">http://www.macraffle.com,</a>; that do this. I thought MacRaffle in particular is well done, but limits itself substantially by focusing on the Apple crowd. So I set out to do somethign with a little more mainstream appeal. I'm interested in what you all have think about the online raffle concept. I realize that to many, it seems kind of shady, and my biggest challenge is going to be building credibility.

I've tried addressing this by using paypal as my order processing engine, giving people a familar name to associate with, and also by offering some $1 raffles, to get those sitting on the fence to just give it a try, low liability and all.

Any feedback is welcome, I'm not asking you to buy a ticket, just take a look at the site and tell me what you think.

thanks for checking out and any advice you ave to offer!

In case you're wondering, yes, this is legal, and it's legitimate. For the moment, online gambling (yes, this is, in essense, gambling) is perfectly legal. But that could change, in which case, it's really just a simple matter of re-incorporating on some small island in the carribean and hosting the site there (there are several companies set up to do just this very thing).

There are some conditions that I have to abide by to keep it legal, I have to offer a means of entry that does not require purchase (done?), and donate between 10 and 20% of the proceeds to charity (and done). No biggie, really. But even then, it is technically illegal in a few municipalities.

ciao,

michael
