Buying new MBP 17-inch (2011) - feedback requested re: glossy vs. anti-glare
The subject line sums it up: After using my PowerBook G4 17-inch for almost 7 years and with the latest-gen MacBook Pros announced yesterday, it's time for an upgrade.
I travel a lot but use my PB indoors at least 98 percent of the time (although mostly in sunny locales such as South Florida). My current PowerBook has the original anti-glare screen, which, as I recall, was all that was available when I bought it in the summer of 2004.
While I appreciate all feedback, this question is mostly for people who had an anti-glare screen on their PB or MBP and then switched to the glossy:
Do you consider the glossy to be better or worse than the anti-glare, and why?
I know the best course of action is to play around with both, but that's not much of an option for me, as I'm out of the country and don't have easy access to new MBPs in a retail store. Thanks very much for all feedback.

Glossy is worse because the panel has no anti-glare coating and a glass panel in front, which creates huge amounts of reflection. Some people assume the anti-glare is blurry or the blacks aren't as good but the way Apple does it, it's basically like the glossy version without any reflections.
The panel is more exposed with no glass in front but the screen is like the appearance of paper and shows the content how it was intended to be shown. You would never regret getting a matte version and feel you were missing out but there's a good chance you would regret the glossy simply because it has a flaw that you look for and see right away.
