I had one mail that described bowel movements and how you can detect health problems by the size, color and density. If you had bad bowels they recommended getting a colon wash. Ok, sure...
I wonder...how is the SPAM situation over there in Europe, Asia and all? The same...and just as stupid and frivolous?
i get in media 5-50 emails a day that try to convince that i can bet 1-4 inches to my.. .!!, sell me viagra, help me stop smoking, invite me to all the webcam parties, offer me loans and paychecks or are those "hi, i'm a poor nigerian, give me your money".. practically i started ages ago to fwd all those to the abuse@their providers (from isps) but today i signed up the spamcop. so i simply fwd all the bull.SIT that bores me and manages still to reach me (i have a nice amount of filters so i guess i lose some mails as well..) now to spamcop
i just wonder how those "get 1-4 inches more to your.." would help to get really those 4" to my..

well sometimes i used to forward THOSE mails to one of my portuguese friends ..
i get a lot of spam. i have a spamcop account, so i just forward the mail to them, this easier than using their website which is slow, clunky and buggy a lot of the times. i'm not sure if spamcop helps but i use it anyways
If it's commercial mail, or a mailing list you didn't explicitly opt in to, it's spam, and you can thereby guarantee that the sender does not have any ethics or integrity whatsoever. Disclaimers, subject lines, "remove" lists and revoltingly anti-consumer bills stagnating in Congress don't change that.
It certainly does. Spammers must provide means of easily removing someone's name from the send list... just like telephone spammers. Frequently, I just find broken links.

that's the worst thing to do. if you have not provided your address to the spammers, if you answer or click anywhere, it proves your (inevnted or bought) addy exists.
i once responded to a spammer because i was really pissed off about the thing they were spamming me.. after that.. yes yes yes. my iol.it email addy has finished to those cds where you have 20 000 000 email addys..
What is SpamCop??

http://spamcop.net/
however, it does show that you're active/gullible.
How? Simple.
Most spammers get your e-mail address when you enter it to sign up for services or to download some kind of software or something like that. Alternatively, some spammers use bots to scour web pages and newsgroups for e-mails to use. In both of these cases, it is YOUR responsibility to keep your e-mail private. If you post your e-mail on a web page, everyone in the world has access to it. Some people get around this by posting their e-mail as something like "bradNOSPAM@mac.com (remove the NOSPAM to send)" so the bots would get "bradnospam@mac.com" which is an incorect address.
Of course, some spammers also use name generators based on reguar words and common names, but I haven't been caught by them either.
I give my personal e-mail ONLY to the friends, family, coworkers, and people I trust will not do anything stupid with it. When I have to enter a valid e-mail address to download something or view a certain webpage, I use an alternate "spam" account I have set up at hotmail.com. I check the account about once every two weeks just to delete everything and kep it active.

in my (more serious) site(s) i NEVER have my email written as user@server.com.
WHEN it has been necessary to put the email written, it is in the middle of a chapter where explained how to contact me, AND it is written e.g. like user at myserver dot com . when it is a normale person in the need of contacting me, he is able to compone the addy of that info.
when i have to use a visible email addy i prefer the format user@server.invalid or user.takethisawayifyouanswertome@server.invalid (or.com) (or, if i use a @server.it i leave the outer part as @server.it.invalid )
also on the places where i can hide my addy i do hide it.
i don't give the private addies to all the places.
and basically those registration eg. stuff i do from my trashm.. eah, hotmail and of one more email addy.
the problem with this superspammed iol.it addy is that the user part is short (only 4 letters) so i bet that is at well one reason it gets to the invented lists a well.
so i guess i start to not use it. to the friends who still use it (hey that was my most stabile email addy for 5 years) .. i will start to reply from my supernew mac addy then.
i have plenty of filers.. so all the stuff having loans, rates, any pornographic terms, etc etc ends to junk. though i cannot check that account online - no way, too much spam - still with these measures.. so .. ok, i give up. i have in some point put ending ALL emails coming from hotmail, lycos, tripod etc going ALL to trash. so.. lets say from 1 january i decide not to use that addy anymore...
just remembered my that most spammed addy is connected to the formmail of one serious site. i'll figure whether i can change that address. i prefer formmail as feedback of the sites cos i dont have to leave my addy visible anywhere.
in the italian usenets - of libero - there was the worst spambot i've seen. i used those me@dontspamme.removethis.etc.etc.com stuff and o got spam which i saw was ALSO to THOSE addies. twats..
