Moved to FC: Pot, Politics, and Switch Campaigns
ok, i was watching the daily show (with Jon Stewart) yeserday while "doing homework". and i wasn't really watching it intently during the commercials, and my friend goes "hey look at the screen, that guys fvcking lighting a joint." so i look up, and theres a guy sparking a jay (thats a joint, or "marijuana cigarette" to u pot-virgins). i note in the background is some kind of old style building, like marble or something, similar look to the jerfferson memorial and shit.
and, true to the title of the thread, politics were involved. apparently this dood is running for some kind of office. my hemp-smoking friend (ahem, i mean hw-doing friend) and i disagree on what he was running for. i think he was running for gov'ner (of new york), my friend thinks its something more local (to north/western new york state).
and finally, the style of the commercial was very similar to apple's switch ads. the exact music, and several spoken quotes by the candidate on a white backgrond. [the pot smoking part was one of those cut scene dealies, like in tony hawk's ad.]
ok, now thres a few things i want to ask of the community here. first, has anyone else seen this? what, if any reactions do u have to it? Does anyone know where i can get an mpg [or similar movie format: aka quicktime-capable] of it? lastly, what are people's thoughts on making marijuana (legalization) a big issue during these midterm elections?
personally, i think its really great to see that pot is getting more and better pro-adverts. the more people see it, the more likely i think poeple are to accept it. but, i think it shouldn't be an issue until the country gets out of the whole hate-arab faize. tho i am in favor of legalizing marijuana (and i dont hate arabs).

It would also be interesting to know why this guy decided to go Green. He looks like a pretty good Libertarian candidate to me... Oh wait, the Libertarians are serious about running people who want to get elected. Personally, I think he's running as a joke.
i dont know if he's been arrested, but i figure that the incident probably was a few months or so in the past. i also am not thorooughly familiar with all the laws of the varying counties and shit in ny, but i don't think smoking a j is an arrestable offense in some parts of ny state. there was probably a fine. i figured that if there was any penalty, he has since served his time.
also, i would think its clear why he'd go green. what color are trees?
Notably Bert Anciaux, who, many people forget, did end up second most voted for politicians in the last senate elections (the only elections where the entire country votes for the same politicians - he came in after old-prime-minister Dehaene). Also his then-party-colleague Vincent vanquickenborne, who advertised the fact that he is a smoker as a way to get more votes, and with success, his is now, at 27 or so, a senator for the state of Belgium.
