Soccer - Who is your favourite player?
Dun get to see much soccer threads around here, other than th Holland - germany match.
My favourite player is Raul of real Madrdid. At 25, he had it all, money, fame, beautiful wife, cars and top soccer honours.
He has a great left foot and a super dribbler. I am amazed he has yet to win the European Player of the Year award though. I hope he wins this award soon.
So wat are you guy's favourite player??

Posh spice hot????
She's too thin, and she talk too much
Since no one has mentioned him and he happens to be the best player alive...Zinedine Zidane.

You are right , but by alive you certainly mean in activity. Pele is still alive.

I think Zidane will run rings around Pele these days
Maradonna too. It would take a lot longer though since there is a lot more to run rings around.
But when he is hot, he is unstoppable. Look at the 1998 world cup final!!!
Zidane is a great player, but I dun think he is the best player of all time. He dun have the X factor which Maradona or pele has. probably becos he blows hot and cold on the field too much.

I didn't mean to say he was the greatest of all time. I think Pele and Cruyff are on their own little island, fairly close are George Best, Maradonna and Beckenbauer. Zidane would fall in with the likes of Van Basten.
What I like about Zidane is that he is so incredibly intelligent. The first thing he does when he gets the ball is shield it. When you have the basics down like that you can start thinking about doing complex things.
One need only listen tae those auld b&w recordings tae hear this phenomenon. Viz:
(Jimmy Johnstone): KICK
(Football): "BOOMPH"
The legendary Jimmy (Jinky) Johnstone or (Slim) Jim Baxter; either o' whom were sae good they could make the fitba talk with their feet.

Archie Gemmil.
Och yes, Mr Macfenian! With a' due respect tae your own nation is not Scotland the spiritual hame o' football? Archie Gemmel (and that goal against Holland), Dennis Law, Joe Jordan. Those were the days when we could beat Iceland and the Faroes of course and the Lisbon Lions conquered the solar system.

The Lisbon Lions are considered to be the pride of Ireland
All of those you name are legends in their own right but there's only one Georgie Best.
