i'm not a gamer at all, and have never had a console ever. However, i was briefly considering changing that when my friend brought over his PS2 and DDR pad. anyone play DDR? i bow down to you, that thing is hard!... but so addicting....
I'm rather curious to see if there's enough room for three major consoles (xbox, PS2, gamecube).
It seems like there's plenty of games for each but will one eventually fall by the waste side?
Obviously PS, is the market leader. And Xbox has a strong financial backing. Does Game cube's slightly lower price enough to keep it in the game?

I use GameCube. Xbox is third placed under PS2 and GC, FYI. I think they will do well...
There's plenty of rumbling going on around the net that Nintendo won't come back for another round of Consoles, even if right now they're beating the Xbox. Everyone got schooled by Sony this time around (and the last) and Nintendo may well decide that like Sega they can take their strong franchises and make a killing with them plus future GameBoys!
DC, Xbox, PS2, GameCube, and GBA are the 'latest' consoles and I play them all.
I'm not really surprised to see the Xbox getting nailed on AI since it's MS. But they're just going to throw money at it until it's successful. After all, they've got money to burn.
Then there's Sony which is way out in front, and Nintendo which is Japan's richest company. This isn't like Sega that was going to be bankrupt if they kept putting the DC out.
I'm a Mod and News Reporter for Ningc.com It's Gamecube fan site so knowing Nintendo is my line of work. To answer one question, Nintendo did make a very strong comment that they will be making another console with of course another Game Boy, to make a 3 page speech short their most loved comment was "Nintendo is in the Hardware business to stay." The whole speech was basically Nintendo's way in saying we won't be bullied around. After taking some punches from Sony saying they console war is all ready over and this is the Playstation Generation. Then Microsoft who has to many quotes for me to post. It was a fine sign in my opinion they stood up.
Now a cool thing is Electronic Gaming Monthly posted a letter grade chart for all the consoles this year. To show how good each one is doing. Here it is below for anyone interested. Considering this was only Nintendo's first year, they sure did do the smart thing and push a lot of effort into their games.

One of the big execs from Nintendo just recently said that they have no plans to leave the hardware business and they're already working on the next system.
Personally, I have:
PS2, Dreamcast, N64, SNES and NES. I plan on picking up a Gamecube when Zelda comes out and I'm currently working on building a small PC box with a MAME/NES/SNES/Genesis emulators on it to replace my older systems.
hey that's cool. I remeber a long tim ago a guy named Yoshi did that. Hae did a Xbox/GCN/PS2/Nes. The only thing was he forgot to had ports for memory cards! Hahah.
I think Nintendo did great their first yaer but not really enough. Some examples are.
a) Marketing
b) Integrity to actually try and Compete with The Rivals, and..
c) There Lack of even trying to do anything to boost sales.
though the reasons change(soon to be zelda:wind waker) currently for the best game ever made METROID PRIME!!!
I have a ps2 that is great for Final Fantasy X, and GTA...thats about it though
my friend has an xbox..it has some good features, but I'm not a fan.
Last I remember
gamecube ahd sold something like 5.4 million units
Xbox 4.6
and PS2 10.8
or something in that range
additionally there was an article posted here(I think) that said sonys VP was impressed by the Gamecube processor and wanted IBM to make a powerpc type processor for the playstation 3
gamecube is not out of hardware...if anyone is not going to make another system its Mircosoft....first off, they don't really need to cause the xbox IS powerful enough to last longer than the ps2 or gamecube might, but also because even though they have strong finacial backing, they are not very popular in the console gaming world.
When i do play any new console games, I use gamecube. I'll take some really kickarse games then a bunch of so-so ones. Nintendo is also the king of handhelds hands down.
But when i really wanna play some games, the SNES comes out. Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Megaman X? the list goes on.
btw does anyone have any information on the zelda for gamecube?
If it ever came to it I say team up with Sony all the way.
Anyway, I have Prime. Game of the year for sure. I love it to death. The graphics are so great, sometimes you just haft to stop and look. To see every last piece of detail and the big shock comes when you learn just how short the load times are.
Even better then that it's was officially announced today that Splinter Cell(The Xbox's killer app title this year)is coming to both the Gamecube and PS2 with new levels not found ont he Xbox. So way cool there.
Spiffster, yeah I got loads of info for ya. What do you want to know?
Whats the chance of the U.S. seeing the Ocarina of Time for GameCube like the Japanese got when they bought Zelda for GC!?!?

Golly, I thought this was general knowledge. Yes, the changes are very good. Every source I've seen says that if you pre-order The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker between Feb 16 and March 24, you will also get a special bonus disc of Ocarina of Time and the previously unreleased Ocarina of Time: Master Quest (aka Ura Zelda).
Well I guess that takes care of that. For the most part don't expect to much. There was lot's of rumors of what was in Ura Zelda during the time of the N64 such as, New Dungeons, characters, weapons even the highly rumored Ski Temple. But so far all it's been is your basic Dungeons re-mixed. Still though it fine since your getting it for free.

Kingdom hearts and Suikoden3 rocks!!! Anyone who needs advice in these games can ask for for help.

PS
AND
Xbox
(which is ugly. and has crap games)
Nintendo will be back, if you can believe their own announcements. Best source I find.

When the next wave of consoles comes out, Nintendo should co-operate with Sony to kick Microsoft out of the market.
Anyway, I have Prime. Game of the year for sure. I love it to death. The graphics are so great, sometimes you just haft to stop and look. To see every last piece of detail and the big shock comes when you learn just how short the load times are.
