    I looks like fun. However, in following the linkage I found the trailer for "25th Hour" which looks like it might be too good to be a Spike Lee project, perhaps he has finally (wisely) decided to shelve his poorly conceived politics and just make the good films that he is talented enough to produce.

    No one should be forced to see Uma Thurman fake as though she knows how to work a sword. My Gawg this movie is going to tank so freakin' reekin' bad I'm already red with embarrassment.

    Enough of the Matrix'y effects and spinning crap. There is no more "art" in Asian fighting. It's all this corny MTV style video edits and spinning bodies. Burn Hollywood Burn!

    Uh, I watched the entire trailer thinking "is this a spoof of old martial arts movies, or is this real?".

    I can't be the only one...

    Or is Uma really going to swordfight 20 guys and win? Uh, OK.

    have a little faith baby. have a little faith. if it was anyone but tarantino pulling the strings, i'd probably say the same thing. but come on, the guys a film and story telling genius. check out some of the articles written about it on aintitcool. even if you don't agree with the author, it may give you some insight into what tarantino is trying to do with this movie.

    I do not think QT is trying to raise the martial arts genre to another level here. QT has been an addict of martial arts films since he was working part-time in a video store. This seems to be a tongue n' cheek homage to them. Some things I noticed about all QT movies:

    1. Reservoir Dogs - Gangsters

    2. Pulp Fiction - Pulp Novels

    3. Jackie Brown - Black Expoitation Films/Elmore Leonard

    4. Kill Bill - Martial Arts

    All his favorite kinds of film genres...with a contemporary twist to them.

    Also noticed that Uma is wearing a yellow and black jumpsuit...

    ...that and David Carradine...all tongue n' cheek. Please, its entertainment not a thesis.

    By the way...the color stock in this film looks beautiful. Also QT is a perfectionist and he wouldn't let anything cheap or fake looking in his film unless it is intentional.

    I agree 100%. I still can't believe Tarantino is doing this, what a waste of talent! (I think Pulp Fiction was one of the best movies ever)

    From <a href="http://www.screenwritersutopia.com/script_reviews/kill_bill.html"; target="_blank">here</a> (script review, they haven't seen the movie):

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    After Jackie Brown, from about 1998 to early 2000, Tarantino spent his time "gorging on film history and B-grade filmmakers." (As quoted in a September 2000 NY Times interview.) While reading that interview, I almost got the feeling that Tarantino had been on a sabbatical of sorts, exploring the history of movies and searching for a truer meaning to the art of filmmaking.

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    The story is a body count, practically everyone dies, and that?s fine. This is a B Kung Fu movie, and a B movie is all it aspires to be. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, it might end up being a really cool extension of Tarantino's passion for the genre.

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    Kill Bill is a self-indulgent wreck of a story. Something only a handful of directors could get away with. For the moment, Tarantino is among them. When I got to page 101 and realized I was only at the midway point of the script, and that the story had bored me beyond my wildest nightmares[...]

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    Kill Bill is evidence that Tarantino?s "gorging" on B films and filmmakers has had a deep and negative effect on his screenwriting, which is surprising. I think in his honorable effort to honor those movies he loves and grew up on, he does himself a disservice. Kill Bill will be a pretty good "B" flick, and that?s about it.

    &gt;&gt;&gt;

    high expectations + bad script + way too many matrix effects = biggest disappointment ever!
