First MacBook Pro: 2 internal SSD's RAID 0 possible? Drive recommendations?

Alright, so I finally got my very first ever Mac notebook, the 2011 17" MacBook Pro. It is one sweet piece of machinery and the Geekbench rating of 10,000 is just incredible! It does get hot, though, and the fans are loud! Wow! I guess there are trade-off's.

Anyway, Is it true that I can remove the SuperDrive and put in another hard drive or SSD and would I even be able to use RAID? And if so, are all SATA connectors SATA III (6Gbps) or is the one running the SuperDrive the 3Gbps flavor?

With Lion almost here, which will finally add TRIM support for OS X, what drives do you recommend? I've been using Intel SSD's (the 80GB and 160GB ones ever since they came out with the first generation) and now I have a couple of 160GB G2's. Should I switch to one with a SandForce controller? I hear the OCZ Vertex 3 is pretty slick? Are there any limitations that I should know about?

I can't wait to open that gorgeous piece of aluminum and get my hands dirty!

Thank you for any advice!
