Oh man! Some of you may have seen this on the news. 1 dead 15 injured 72 cars damaged truck on fire. Lake effect snow dumped 1 foot in 4 hours. Visibility was at zero in some areas.

<a href="http://www.heraldpalladium.com/display/inn_news/news2.txt"; target="_blank">Lake-effect snow gets blame for crash

When I was driving it started snowing, no big deal, not sticking. Then it started sticking. No big deal. Slow down increase following distance. Then I lost sight of the car in front of me  NOT FUN! Then I caught sight of it again and by then the traffic was stopped dead and ... it stopped snowing No snow anywhere else but this one small area. Lake effect

Mind you I'm not bitching too much because I wasn't involved. I did drive right into it. Moved one mile in 2.5 hours. Took a leak on the side of the highway ... along with everyone else ... male. Then we got turned around back east. Headed for an exit to go south to 90. Waited 40 minutes there and then for no reason traffic started moving. My 3.75 hour drive was 8 hours. Got steak and lobster for dinner in Chicago with several pints.

No. Talk and shrinkage and stage fright? Temperature in the teens and 100s of people looking on The other good thing was I had and apple, orange and banna with me. So I didn't go hungry.

Scott, are you from MI or were you just passing through? Yeah, all the local news here in Kalamazoo were on top of that story, said it was caused by some freakish snow band which rarely ever occurs in that form. On a side note, I was in a situation like that just after Thanksgiving on I-94 near Battle Creek, fortuneatley I was able to take the back roads around the accident. But anyway, hey at least you weren't a part of it right?

Did you see the Doppler Radar images of that snow band? Freaky. It looked like some curved hurricane arm thingy! That's Michigan alright, we seem to get the wierdest weather in the States.

I'm living between Ann Arbor and Chicago right now so I'm driving back and forth every weekend. From now on I'll cut south sooner and take 90 until it warms up. I take 90 into Chicago anyway so it doesn't matter anymore that it being a toll road.

I saw at lease one other highway closing going the other way. Takes a lot of room to yank a tracker-trailer back on the highway.

Summer has tons of accidents. Too much traffic and too many idiots. Despite the deadly snow storms winter driving is more enjoyable.
