How will Tiger Woods do this year?

Okay time to lighten things up. For all the golf fans out there, you know Tiger has been on the sidelines for the first few tournaments due to surgery on his knee.

Meanwhile Ernie Els is tearing up both the PGA and European tour with 4 wins already. So, will Tiger be back to form this year? Will he win any or all of the majors?

Or perhaps it's the year of the Big Easy.

Others to look for are Singh, and Toms. Forget Mickelson, he can't handle the pressure.

Knee surgery, huh? That's it then, Tiger will fizzle out. He'll remain one of the top players, but he won't dominate the next decade of play like his first few pro years suggested he might. Add one injury to an influx of players with a new focus on the long game, new equipment, less hunger, age, etc etc... and in 5 years time Tiger will be just another guy who hits the ball long. You can't change the game that dramatically without people taking notice. 9-10 young amateurs playing today who turn pro in the next 5-6 years will hit the ball as far or farther.

I do not have any fear for the future of Tiger. However my favorite player is ernie Els, i like his cool swing. Tiger is great but , he has an extraterrestrial swing : don't try to copy him.

Surgery is no picnic...but I'm not sure it'll matter with Tiger. His strength was not necessarily having the longest drive, but the best mental drive. He could always seem to focus in and more times than not, rise to the challenge.

His course management skills knowing when to go for the green and when to lay up is also unmatched. He also has the ability to recover after a bad tee shot.

I figure he'll win about four tournaments plus the Masters. While not as stellar as past years, we'll call it a Tiger Lite season.

Hopefully, he'll do badly. Golf needs to have a varied leadership. Tiger does not carry the banner very well. He comes off as being too one dimensional and egotistical.

 You've got to be kidding!

How is he one dimensional and egotistical. He single handedly brought the game to the masses and the underpriveledged.

I'm afraid you're confusing confidence with ego. Just because he says he's going to win all four majors and then proceed to do so, doesn't make him arrogant or egotistical.

No, Tiger's does not have the most efficient of swings. Personally, I'm still amazed at Fred Couples'. Similar to Els in that it seems so effortless and smooth.

Apparently <a href="http://sports.yahoo.golfserv.com/gdc/news/article.asp?id=9716"; target="_blank">Tiger Woods played the entire 2002 season with "brutal" pain in his knee</a>, causing him to becoming very ill at times, and take pain relieving injections. Considering he won 2 of 4 majors, among 4 other wins, you have to wonder how he would have played without knee pain.

Yeah, Ernie is hot, but he's only hot without Tiger in the field. Ernie has finished runner up to Tiger multiple times simply because Tiger is better than him. He has even stated that it is a bit of an ease without Tiger in the field. Now what's he going to do now that Tiger's back? We'll see.

As much as I want to see Tiger have some real competition, I want to see Tiger do things that seem almost inhuman. I predict Tiger will come back strong and finish in the top 5 at the Buick Invitational. He says he has been feeling no pain in his knee, and he typically does well after long breaks.

He'll surely win at least 1 major, and earn the most money this year.

Tiger's swing innefficient? What are you talking about? Tiger's got the most fundamentally sound swing on tour. Most people can't swing like him though because they aren't as strong, flexible, or talented as him.

You'll notice their swings are just reflections of their personalities. Ernie and Fred have that smooth and effortless swing because that's how they are... they always seem laid back and very calm.

Tiger's is very fast and powerful, reflecting the fierce and focused competitor in him.

Golf is not a real sport. Real sports are games like baseball football and hockey. Golf is a sport that should only be played by infirm segments of society such as women, peg-legged pirates and the French.

You're right! How could I forget? He does Buick ads, too. So, he's two dimensional.

    LOL.

To the masses? Has he been playing golf in the ghettos? In the depressed rural areas? I can't say the he's done anything for the masses except profit from them.

Perhaps he did not do anything for the masses, but saying he profit from them is exagerate, in these case all notorious guys profit from them.

Tiger make golf more popular beyond a larger part of the population. Every star make this effect, and that's why Nike is giving to Tiger so much money.

Don't tell me, you're one of those who can't stand the success of others. He's skilled at what he does and the fact that he makes millions through endorsements shows he's also astute.

No, the game hasn't yet come to the ghettos. But at least he's brought the game away from the elitist white country club mentality. More and more underpriveleged kids are getting the opportunity to play the game through the Tiger Woods Foundation. We're not entirely there, but it's a start.

I challenge anyone to show me another golfer who has given as much or more back to the game?

I can't see how he makes golf, or even Buicks, more accessible to anyone. So, he wins a million dollars in a tournament...how does that make anything more accessible?

Is he personally funding golf courses for disadvantaged youth? For all I know, he could be.

Is he subsidizing people's rounds of golf?

Is he building golf courses in third-world nations?

How does one (ANYone) make golf more accessible?

Huh? Pan out? It's been happening for over the last 3 or 4 years.
