It was a comic by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill, chock full of established fictional characters inserted into an alternate reality version of 19th Century London. Here's a good synopsis, with pictures.

NOW it's been turned into a MOVIE starring (amongst others) Sean Connery...it'll be out this Summer. Certainly a good 2 hour escapist flick.

Hope that it's as fun as the comic, which was insane in the amount of detailed literary and graphic linkages with the time period.

So it's from the same guy that did From Hell. From Hell was a very well done movie IMO. I'll keep my eye out for LoEG

    Ah, ah, ah... LXG please.

No, seriously, that's the 'acronym' they're using. Gotta have that X-TREME feel to it...

Honestly, the style in the trailer (at Apple! ) isn't what I was expecting, and I'm not sure how I feel about it, but hey, I'll give it a chance.

The inclusion of Tom Sawyer is interesting, since he's not in the original graphic novel, IIRC. Maybe he's just there for us 'merkins who can't identify the other primarily british characters. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

What about Dorian Gray? Wasn't he in the 2nd series? The one about the War of the Worlds?

The movie wasn't as bad as the reviews made it out to be.

I found the plot a little weak, but on the upside, it had lots and lots of action. I didn't go in expecting a lot, but I was pleasantly surprised. At the very least, it's driven me to go read the graphic novel now.
