Please look at this page from ESi-pro (audio devices manufacturer): <a href="http://www.egosys.net/main.html"; target="_blank">http://www.egosys.net/main.html</a>;

00/00/01-00:00 --- Gigawire users Notice

GigaWire is not included in current driver version( 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 ).

We are working for next version (v3.5) to include GigaWire.

And it's name will be changed to DirectWire.

Thanks.

    ..Windows XP contains a new high bandwith connection, 'Directwire' build upon the IEEE 1394 standard, but enhanced in numorous to ways to embrace the high Microsoft standard of intilligent technologies... funny huh. i think that the gigawire that they are refering to, is a audio link cable. not the gigawire, that is apple's old registered patent! heh!

    Unfortunately no. This is referring to some audio technology in association with GigaStudio from <a href="http://www.nemesysmusic.com"; target="_blank">nemesysmusic</a>.

    <a href="http://www.sound-music.com/cgi-bin/newspro/news.shtml"; target="_blank">EGO Systems</a>:

    GIGAWIRE Technology

    GIGAWIRE enable routing the Gigasampler 8-channel Output to the ASIO driver input in real-time. <hr></blockquote>

    So this is not the rumored... whatever-it-is from Apple.

    But notice the name change (to DirectWire). Seems somebody pointed out a conflict with an established trademark. Hm.

    That's exactly what I meant. I don't think Ego Sys 'Gigawire is the same as Apple's, but I do think that they were asked by Apple to change their name... Who else could have ?
