Best Buy Sunday flyer...
Just got the Sunday paper here in the midwest near St. Louis, Mo. Looked at the Best Buy flyer which is twenty-eight pages long. Front page devoted to "The Most Tablets Under One Roof." No mention of the iPad anywhere. In the entire twenty-eight page flyer there was no mention of either the iPad or the iPhone at all. Nothing. In the back of the flyer there was a quarter page ad for the iPod Nano and the iPod Touch. No other Apple products were pictured, mentioned, or advertised.
Why does Apple still do business with Best Buy?

Actually, the argument can be made that such a flier might lure a buyer into the store looking for a tablet, and wind up buying an iPad. The numbers are pretty clear about iPad sales in stores where many varieties of tablets are sold.

I agree with pmz - I think Best Buy just realizes that people already know all about the iPad, so it would actually be a waste of space for them to be advertising it. It will be a lot harder to sell the other tablets, since most people don't even know about them, so that's where they have to focus. Big retailers aren't really there to be loyal to one brand, they are just trying to sell the most products of any kind, so they need to figure out how make sure people know about all their products.
They get paid to put certain products in front of others.
That is EXACTLY what's going on here... Apple could easily pay BB a little $ from their advertising budget to get front page on BB's flyers... but they just don't need to, it'd be a waste of money.
At the same time, OTHER brands may come to BB and say, "here's some cash to advertise our product in your flyer... but we'll pay you double if you DON'T advertise iPad in the same flyer!" BB is perfectly within their rights to accept such an offer if they choose to. I don't know that that is what happened in this case.... but it's a possibility.
