Will the iMac still be called "iMac"?
There are two sides to this argument, but I thought it was interesting.
The original iMac in 1998 was named iMac for its easy access to the internet. This was about it. There was obviously no FireWire, CD-RW, DVD, iTunes, iMovie, AirPort, or any other new digital hub technologies. With the new LCD iMac rumored to have new revolutionary technologies to further embed itself in the digital hub strategy, I think we can safely say the "i" moniker is no longer sufficient. An entirely new product name could surface to replace the aging iMac title.
Realistically though, since the iMac has become such a recognized name, and since Apple has gone crazy with the "i" naming scheme (iBook, iMovie, iDVD, iTunes, iPod), I doubt that the name of the iMac will change, but this was just a thought.

I doubt it. We've had five revisions, and they're all titled iMac. Then again, if Apple releases a sufficeiently DIFFERENT iMac, like an LCD iMac, then calling it iMac 2 might be useful.
I suppose the question really is, what will Apple call its next consumer computer? I have no idea. Apple is good at coming up with surprises ("One more thing...")

No way they'l throw away that brand name. Ever heard of Coke 2, New Coke, Pepsi One? It's bad enough they've got G3's and G4's (god forbid another=G5) They'll just confuse people with iMac2.

I'm submitting this to Douglas Adams as one of Dogbert's Induhvidual quotes.
But the new iMac will be called iMac... Apple has put too much marketing muscle behind it to throw away a name. Apple hasn't changed its computers' names since 1997.

Scott Adams writes Dilbert. Douglas Adams is a dead humorous Sci Fi writer. When you attempt to rip off someone elses quote- try making informed zingers or you will look far more inept then the butt of your joke.
