iPad with wonky USB connector. Suggestions?

Something heavy fell on my iPad 1 over the weekend. While it still works fine (and no obvious cosmetic damage), the USB connector is now intermittent. The odd part is, it charges not at all on the iPhone charger (it worked fine before) nor is it recognized by my Mac, but it does charge on the iPad charger if I wiggle the plug the right way. The VGA output connector seems to work. If the connector had simply failed this would be easier to understand.



Any thoughts (other than sending it in for repair)?



EDIT: Removed the iPad from the case and found it to be dented across the back plate so it's surprising to find it works at all anymore. Worth repairing...?
