Do you want a Thunderbolt (external 3d card holder from) ViDock?
I mean an external 3d video card for our Thunderbolts Mac!!!
It would be great!!!

and presumably runs any PCI cards externally up to 225W (using 3 power adaptors? for the highest load). Clearly useful as demonstrated in the video running off ExpressCard:

However, it is a bit large. Hopefully they can create a product (possibly additional to the PCI ones) that uses MXM cards instead with an internal PSU up to 100W.
This way, you have a single plug into a palm-sized box that has Thunderbolt, HDMI and DVI. You can even source Mac MXM cards to sell with the box.
This would of course limit its use to graphics though.
The vidock seems to be priced fairly affordably too at $200-280 and would allow you to run a $300 5770 on a Mac Mini server for just over $500 total. Thunderbolt is a logical next step for vidock.
edit: seems to get really smooth performance even over ExpressCard:
