question about integrating ipad with audio AND video separately
we want to setup an extra room as living room for the kids, to free our own living room for the parents (kids grow up...)
basically, I want to :
1. let the kids listen to music via the iPad
2. let them watch movies on a beamer via the iPad
I would like to use airplay speakers for option 1 and the usual AV cable to attach the ipad to the beamer, but :
a) I do NOT want to have a double-speaker setup (one set of speakers for music, one for movies)
b) I would like the airplay speakers to be ipad-dockable (but this is not a must)
I don't mind having to connect the airplay speakers via cable when watching a movie, since I think it's impossible on the ipad 1 to play a movie via AV cable while sending the audio via airplay
any suggestion ? Should I buy an appleTV and attach that to the speakers/beamer ? But which speakers should I use ? I visited an apple store, but they had so many speakers and the salespeople had little knowledge of this kind of setup...

Do you already have a home theater setup or are you starting from scratch? Our AppleTV is connected to a large-screen TV in our family room and it's teh entertainment hub for music, movies, photo slideshows, etc. Assuming you already have a TV with speakers then just add the Apple TV and be done with it (no cabling or extra speakers needed).
I'm not sure I understand the rest of what you're asking. You seem to be envisioning a situation where both movies and music are being accessed simultaneously. Also, why would you need the iPad at all for movies? Apple TV will do it all for you with no complications.
