OS X iTunes & users Qs?

I have a new iBook 600, and I love the machine, but I have a problem that I hope someone might be able to help clear up for me. Upon setting up my new 'book, I created 2 users, one for me as sys admin, and one regular user, as Apple suggests in the included documentation. This felt too schizophrenic for me, so I deleted the additional user. Now I can't access the mp3 files I imported as the now-deleted user. I can't even find them.

So where are they? Or more importantly, how do I add them to the iTunes library?

Jeez, I hope I don't sound too stoooopid!

    Dude...YOU DELETED THEM!!!

Unless you changed the default, iTunes saved the MP3's to the users ~\\Documents\\iTunes folder. If you just deleted the user's folder, you deleted the MP3's.

    Sorry...

Weirdly, OS 9 iTunes can play them, but OS X iTunes won't.

If they can be played, they are there somewhere. Have OS 9 iTunes show you where they are (get info for the song in iTunes). Then you should be able to move them somewhere else that you can access in X. If they happen to be somewhere invisible I recommend Change Visibility CMM.

I did that but in X, I don't have access priviledges, as they are owned by "root". Also, when I try to use iTunes for OS X, I get "a fatal error occurred while saving the 'iTunes Music Library' . <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Privileges to play them? Move them?

Delete the "iTunes Music Libary" files for all users, it will respawn like a prefs file.
