Deus Ex install hosed my IE/Outlook apps!

Hi all. Kind of a straight forward question here. Following an easy install of Deus Ex (which runs fine), I found I couldn't open Explorer or Outlook, just get a type 11 error and kapute - system doesn't hang, tho'. I should know what's wrong but...I thought maybe a QuickTime conflict? Anyone have this happen to them? Note: hadn't applied Aspyre's patch yet...

Thanks Much,

Caler

I can't imagine why a Deus Ex install would hose IE and Outlook. Deus Ex is based on the Unreal engine, which doesn't install any extensions or nasty stuff in your system folder.

I don't think QuickTime is the problem, but I suppose it's worth a look. What version do you have installed? Deus Ex shipped with 4.0.x, IIRC. You should upgrade to 5.0.2.

Agreed, but it's the only change I made prior to those apps crapping out

...and this is a brand new QS 733 W/ QT 5.0.2. I just can't think of what in an Unreal-based game install would do something like this. Got an e-mail in to Aspyr before I try reinstalling IE/OE...

    Thanks for the reply.

Have you restarted the machine since you installed? I imagine you have, but one should never Ass-U-Me things...

Have you tried restarting with the Mac OS 9.1 Base extension set? Sometimes that helps identify where the problem lies.

Got it...corrupt internet prefs file...looking back, I think it happened during the 'register online' option of the install. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    Thanks guys.
