Hey folks new guy here with a problem. I recently made the switch to a IMac and love it. However, I am having problems trying to find a program to convert my Sony HD video files to something the Mac can understand and work with. So far every program I try can't do it or converts everything but what I need. This will kill me because I have a ton of family videos and need to get them formatted into movies.

Thanks for any help you all can offer.

Do you mean AVCHD files? They will have a .mts extension.

If so, you can rewrap them into standard .mp4 files. There's a program here to do it:

but there's also a way using a droplet called rewrap2m4v:

    along with ClipGrab:

Those will be AVCHD files too and the above apps are compatible. m2ts is listed as supported on the ClipWrap page. They will rewrap to standard mpeg4 videos.
