My new Airport BaseStation is giving me a very crappy range of about 30 feet. I do not why this is but I desperately need to use it in my home office which is at about 90 feet from the base station. Any ideas why the range is so small? Should I alter any of the settings?

Did you read the pdf
"Designing AirPort Networks2.pdf "? There are a bunch of suggestions there. It's in your Airport folder.
If you are trying to connect with a TiBook you should know that the TiBook gets lousy airport reception.
Turning off encryption improved the range for me.
