Booting from a PMCIA drive

Ok, I've had two crashes on my powerbook resulting from hard bumps to the hard drive and I noticed that you can get 512 mg of compact flash for about $200 now. So I was wondering if it would be possible to boot from the PMCIA drive.

Yeah, I know it would boot slow, but with Os X I wouldn't have to boot that often. Virtual ram might be a problem.

Just a crazy idea. Any thoughts?

I tried this once with my laptop running windows 95. I had a scsi jaz drive connected to a pmcia slot. Turns out that he pmcia drivers were a part of the OS so the drive wasn't recongized until the OS booted. I am not sure how the powerbooks handle the pmcia slots.
