The first patent (pic 1 & 2) is clearly the new imac, what about the three last pictures. They are patented by the same guy (who's linked to apple):



What do you make of it?

a portable with a monitor that folds both ways?

The 25th aniversary mac?







(PS. this was first posted som months ago around the date of the imac release, but it drowned in mass of post)

    Exactly what I am wondering...that picture is clearly one device and bears almost no resemblance to the iMac besides the base, neck, and monitor, which are all different shaped and attached differently.

    Honestly the design people at Apple would sketch ideas far more beautiful than that 70's monster pic. Look at the mobile phone - it is so outdated... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

    hehe... What is truely inovative about the new imac is the way the screen is attached to the steel neck. This is the patent for the steel neck. If you wanted to patent that mechanism, would you submit a real schetch of the imac (and give away the whole idea?) or just a drawing of general principle of the neck? Remember this was patentet long before the imac came out! It was also posted on this board (not by me on the 6th of january this year...

    I still see no similarity between this design and the neck of the iMac. It is not even close. What is the patent filers connection with Apple?

    That neck is completly different it has a sizzer action and attaches to the bottem of the screen the iMac is just a single bar attaching to the center of the screen. This alters how the entire arm works. (Oh and this thing has just the display rotating without the (big & clunky) arm.)
