iMessage Quirky Bug

Just started experiencing a strange occurrence on three IPhones used in my family. Person A texts Person B. Instead of an iMessage going from person A to B, the message appears on both phones as an iMessage from person B to A! On top of that, person C also got the iMessage. All three phones are under the same account at the provider. Different phone numbers of course. This doesn't seem to happen each time, but found it very strange. It also happened with an iPod Touch that has iMessage capabilities.

Anyone experience this or have an explanation?

Is person B using the same iCloud account as person A?

Is person C using the same iCloud account as either of them?

That would be why. It thinks you're sending messages to yourself, and you basically are.

Any suggestions to fix? In settings, I went into messages and thought maybe I can remove my email address from "receive at 2 addresses" but it is grayed out.

Ah. I think I solved it. In Settings, Messages, Receive At, I turn off the Apple ID. That worked!!!
