Urgent Question

Hi guys. So a guy I know has an Powerbook g3 that is about three years old (so that makes it a wallstreet? Lombard? Pismo? One of those) He just experienced a meltdown of some sort, possibly involving the processor. Do these machines have a history of doing this? And is it possible that he can save his hard drive? You see, his hard drive has his collegiate thesis on it, so it would SUCK to lose. Thanks, any info at all that you might have would be very helpful.

Let's see, a meltdown..... I dont think it has a history, not sure. About the problem.... Let me think.. It's might be the powersupply. Does the computer turn on your just stay with out power after trying to turn on? If you take the harddrive out and try to attach it to another computer you could save all the data. Now if it's a harddrive problem, that could cause the computer to fail and all data would probly be gone. What does everyone else think? I'll do some research and reply with what I'v come up with. :cool:

If it is the hard drive he will still be able to start up off a bootable CD.



If it is the motherboard, or the powersupply he will not.



Which PowerBook is it?
