Fb chat on safari on ipad?

If I try to chat with someone on facebook chat who accesses facebook through safari on the ipad if the user is online and not idle will it pop up on their screen or will it just pop up in their message box?

    I don't believe Facebook on the iPad in Safari has a message box function, but as I don't use social networking, I can't be certain.

    No the only way to have FB chat on iPad is with their Facebook for iPad App

    Bull. FB chat works perfectly well using eBuddy and I'm betting a dozen other chat apps.
