How can I upgrade an iPod Touch to a 4SOS without jailbraking?

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation (upgraded to 4th) and i want to get 4SOS. But every time I plug my iPod in and I go on iTunes and all it says when I press 'Check for Update' , it always says it's on the latest version, even though it's released here in Australia. So can you please tell me how to do it? Oh, and also I heard jailbraking is really bad so... can you please try not to include jailbraking?

I'm not sure what "4SOS" is supposed to be.

The only other result for it on the ENTIRE INTERNET is this identical question you've asked at Yahoo! Answers…

Would it also be possible for you to clarify the pronoun here?

    OH.

You mean the iPhone 4S' operating system. So say "iPhone 4S' version of iOS".

If you're on 5.0.1, you have it. Period. If you're on 5.0, update from Apple directly. If you're on 4.3.whateverthelastonewas, update to 5.0.1 directly.
