Monitor resolution keeps changing

Everytime i turn my computer back on (OSX 10.1.4), the resolution changes . I had it set on 832x648 or something like that. When i came back to my computer the next day the resolution was back to 1024x768, and the option for 832 wasn't even listed, only 800x600 in addition to those 1024 and higher. Any reason for this? Any fix? Thanks..........................

    I tried posting this topic on OSX but it isn't there. I guess I can only post here where nothing gets answered.
